NICEIC – VITAL IMPORTANCE OF INSPECTION AND TESTING

In the outcome of a recent inquest into the death of young mother at home, the cause of death was determined to be electrocution and the verdict of the jury was unlawful killing. Evidence given at the inquest indicated that the electrical installation in the premises had not been subjected to the necessary inspection and testing procedures to verify that it was safe before being put into service. Following the inquest the Coroner reported the circumstances of the death to the NICEIC and a number of other bodies with a view to their taking action to try and avoid these tragic circumstances re-occurring.
