Menzies staff have now completed their Dickens Themed E2E charirty cycle for Newstraid raising the massive total of £20,011 so far. More details can be found at the blog below and if you would still like to donate i think the teams involved have definitely earned it. Unfortunately the AKD sponsored Leg 4 appears to have been the wettest!! Leg 4 Quotes: Kay Simpson: “There was a 5 minute period, while we passed Galashiels branch, when it stopped raining. It might not seem like much now, but at the time it felt like a lottery win.” Steven Kay: “I’ve never known a drenching like it. Even Stuart McLean, who turned up to drive a support vehicle, ended up with a wet arse… and he was sitting inside a people carrier.” The blog is well worth a read with an honest and at times candid view on the wha...

AKD are naturally very proud of our association with such an iconic Scottish brand as Menzies Distribution (one of our longest standing clients). Luckily for us we got the chance to show our appreciation by sponsoring the lucky staff members who will be cycling from John O Groats to Lands End in an E2E cycling event later this year. The Cycle Event is being undertaken for the benefit of Newstraid, their Industry Charity. It runs from 24 August to 2 September 2012. Each leg will be ridden by 2-4 Menzies Employees  – approx 100 miles each. AKD will be sponsoring leg 4 on Monday 27th August from Edinburgh Park to Bellingham. All legs are to have a Dickens theme hence our catchy title.

AKD are delighted to support Emma Tweed, Facilities Administrator at Menzies Distribution Limited who has been accepted to volunteer overseas with Edinburgh Direct Aid in Kogony, Kenya. Emma has saved half of the cost of her trip from her own pocket but needs some assistance with the other 50%. If you would like to help in any way please visit Emma Tweed’s Sponsorship Page (donations could take up to 24hrs to show on her page). Any donation to the fund, helping to raise the rest of the money needed would be greatly appreciated. To find out other ways you can help of to volunteer yourself please visit
